Joyce I. Wright, 84, of 75 Metcalf Ave., Jamestown, died at 12:15 p.m. Monday (May 10, 2010) in the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born February 26, 1926, in Jamestown, the daughter of the late Maurice and Elsie Catton Panter.
Joyce was a 1944 graduate of Jamestown High School and attended the WCA Hospital School of Nursing. She served as clerk for the village of Celoron, and in earlier years, worked at Taylor Jamestown and WCA Hospital. She was confirmed at Kidder Memorial United Methodist Church and was a founding member of the Chautauqua Squares.
Surviving are her husband of 62 years, Cecil M. Wright, whom she married April 3, 1948; a daughter, Terry E. Wright of Jamestown; two sons: Maurice (Bonnie) Wright and Kevin D. Wright, both of Jamestown; four grandchildren: Pamela (Thomas) Warner of Blockville; Erin (Carl Jr.) Johnson of Salamanca; Joshua and Michael Tilyou, both of Ripley; and three great-grandchildren: Connor and Mikayla Johnson; and Brooke Warner.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant brother, James Panter.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Daniel S. Rumfelt will officiate.
Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
